    The best Advice I have to anyone that encounters a horrible Boss, is to refuse to meet with they in person. Take your case to HR make your point clear HR. HR can fire you, you have a case. My best advice is never to meet with any toxic person. Period. I think everyone knows that but some how toxic Bosses get away with it, as if to say management has the Trump card.

    47 here with 12 years in tech (front end dev / UX) and I feel things are shifting so fast. Mass layoffs, lost job and “can’t get back in” - inflated market with devs and “UX:ers” (also design is something that’s getting cut first). Now focusing on my second interest - cybersecurity (back to school for 2 years). Taking my experience of users, web and scripting with me. 🤞🏽

    I don't understand why you would involve another person without seeking some form of feedback. Even observing their reaction or facial expression is feedback. If you don't want any of this, why not vent to the wall next to you? It's very frustrating when someone says they don't want my advice but just want me to listen. To me, that feels like you're wasting my time, which I find very disrespectful. How is venting with zero feedback beneficial for either of us? Yes, I realize I am the odd one out.

    As someone who has taken unsolicited advice from people when in a rough situation, following unsolicited advice has nearly always gone wrong. If I could go back I would not take their advice. The people giving that advice do not usually understand your psychology, the intricacies of your life, or the obstacles you are going through as well as you do. Each individual, if they can tap into their own inner knowing, know better what they need for themselves than anyone outside does.

  • @MarioGreco
    @MarioGreco Месяц назад

    I find this mantra to be frustrating because I often confuse when I should or shouldn't advise someone. For example, if my brother's breath happens to smell one day, should I not be a kind brother and advise him even if he doesn't ask me? Another example, if I'm ever blessed to have kids in the future, should I not parent them on what's good and bad behaviour? Another example, if my friend is about to do something that could harm his reputation, should I not be a good friend and give him my suggestion before he potentially ruins his livelihood? Another example, a stranger is attempting to sew on a public bench while chronically pricking themselves, should I not be a decent human being and advise them on how to avoid injuring themselves, or am I expected to unsympathetic to the pain they're unintentionally inflicting upon themselves (or potentially others)? What's even more frustrating is that I find that if someone gives me advice and I chose not to move forward with it (even if I respectfully hear them out), they get offended. Rules for me but not for thee? I feel it's damned if you do and damned if you don't. Where is the line that seperates the scenarios that merit unsolicited intervention from those that don't?

    • @DeborahH730
      @DeborahH730 Месяц назад

      The fact that you are already thinking about how to parent your future kids is a good indication that you will be a great parent. Here is a suggestion you did not ask for ;). Specifically with kids - no one likes to be told they can't do something. What I have found to work well is to call them over and explain what can happen. e.g. kids running around a pool. When the paving around the pool gets wet it gets slippery and when you guys chase each other around there is good chance one of you could slip and hurt yourself. Let them get back to it. When it happens you don't react in anger or I told you so - you just soothe them without judgement. When they view you as a wise wizard who can predict the future rather than the fun police, they actually seek out your advice. This is obviously terrible advice if it has life threatening consequences like playing in the street.

    What if the person who isn't asking for advice sees their problems through and it turns out their solutions/ideas were not wrong. People are different with different perspectives, experiences, cultures, core values, etc. than you. What is right for you isn't necessarily right for that other person. So your advice may not be right for that person. In addition the other person may also have years of experience and advice to give too. I loved everything about the video except around 4:29 min part. I agree, in some situations people will make mistakes, people often do, but definitely not all the time. Sometimes they follow what is best for them, through well though out planning and experience, etc and the result turns out right for them. I would have shared this video except it comes out making it sound like the person who is giving the unsolicited advice is always right.
